CANCER RESEARCH UK
Cancer Research UK invests in excess of £250 million annually in their world class research programme, supporting the work of some 4,250 scientists, doctors and nurses throughout the UK,

A large proportion of this money is raised from donations and fund-raising events organised by local committes and goes to fund the researchers and provide all the facilities, equipment and materials that they need to carry out their research.

Cancer affects us all.
The local fund raising committee organise many events throughout the year. One annual event is Welsh Cake Day. Last year over 4000 Welsh Cakes were cooked and sold on the harbour,
Below is the recipe that is used. ( kindly supplied by Nesta Williams )
Welsh Cake Recipe: ( makes about 56)
One pound of self raising flour
5 ounces of caster sugar
4 ounces of lard
4 ounces of hard margarine
4 ounces of currants
2 eggs
Method: Mix all the ingredients together to form a stiff dough. Roll out on a floured board and cut into circles using a two and a half inch cutter.
The traditional method of cooking is to use a flat griddle pan called a plank, but a heavy based frying pan will do.
Oil the pan and using a spatula slide the cakes onto the heated plank. When bubbles start to appear on the surface, the cakes are ready to turn. they should be a light golden brown.
They are best eaten warm, with or without a dusting of sugar.
If you would like to help or take part in any event, please contact Pauline Davies ( chairman) on 01834 810360
