SAUNDERSFOOT'S CHRISTMAS MARKET - A FESTIVE FEAST FOR ALL THE FAMILY!

A winter wonderland of festive delights is in store in Saundersfoot on the first weekend of December when the village's popular St Nicholas Christmas Market takes place on the seafront. For the first time, the market will be held entirely under cover, and its heated harbour side marquee will be the venue for a seasonal showcase of food, drink, gifts and crafts on around 50 stalls during the lively three-day FREE event on December 4th,5th and 6th.

There will be plenty of Pembrokeshire produce to taste and buy, some sizzling seasonal ideas from Welsh celebrity chef Angela Gray and the chance to enjoy some tasty treats to drive away the winter chills, including crepes, mulled wine and a Christmas carvery.

There will also be Santa's grotto, live music performances and children's rides against the backdrop of Saundersfoot's energy-saving Christmas lights which will see their switch-on at 6pm on Saturday November 28th. Event organisers, Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism, were inspired to try the new marquee format for the market after the success of the village's St David's Food and Craft Festival earlier this year. Said chamber chairman Andrew Evans: "The indoor format of the festival saw us welcoming around 5,000 people, and we are confident that this event will be equally popular with the public. We hope it will bring a festive feel-good factor to Saundersfoot and really get everyone in the mood for Christmas."

The market will be open from 10am to 8pm on Friday December 4th and Saturday December 5th and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday December 6th. Santa's Grotto will be open to welcome young visitors between noon and 3pm and 5pm to 7pm on the Saturday and from noon to 3pm on the Sunday. Youngsters from Saundersfoot School choir will be delighting with songs and carols after their lessons finish on Friday afternoon, while the tuneful Tempus vocal group perform on the Saturday between noon and 2pm, while there will be carols and a Nativity presentation from Saundersfoot's Hebron Baptist Church on the Sunday afternoon. Saundersfoot St Nicholas Christmas Market is supported by Pembrokeshire County Council, the Welsh Assembly Government and European funding.

ANGELA HAS CHRISTMAS ALL WRAPPED UP!

Top Welsh chef Angela Gray will be showing how to get Christmas all wrapped up in the tastiest of ways when she joins the festive fun at Saundersfoot's St Nicholas Market.

A feast of seasonal food, decoration and gift ideas will be served up by Angela in the market's marquee on both the Saturday and Sunday of the three-day event.

"I really enjoy coming to Saundersfoot, and I've got some lovely, creative Christmas ideas to share with people," said Angela. "There is nothing more heart-warming than making, giving and receiving an edible gift. It doesn't cost the earth, looks fantastic and really shows you care."

Goodies such as mulled fruits, marinated olives, flowerpot bread and truffles will all be made by Angela, who will be packing them up in a hampers to be raffled on both demonstration days.

She will also be cooking up a stylish seasonal menu with her assistant Pam Edwards, and they will also be working alongside Saundersfoot shops to create festive floral displays and table settings. Meanwhile, children will be able to try their hand at making golden pears and Christmas tree cookies at the marquee's craft table. "There will be plenty of tasters and nibbles for everyone to try throughout the demonstrations, and of course, recipe sheets to take home," said Angela. "It will all be really informal and fun, and I expect we'll have some mulled wine on the go as well!"
